HTC Will Using Liquidmetal as casing of the Latest Mobile Phones


In a recent report written by DigiTimes, there is a news in which HTC will use Liquidmetal technology for the main material of casing their latest smart phone in mid-2013. Taiwanese company named Jabon International will provide supply chassis Liquidmetal for smartphone vendors are also derived from the Taiwan.

Liquidmetal is an alloy that is more resistant to the aging process and also have great strength and endurance, claimed to be as light as plastic but stronger than aluminum. HTC current chassis supplier, Catcher Technologies stated that they have not heard anything about HTC and Liquidmetal chassis. Right now they are still producing aluminum chassis unibodi as used in HTC.

Some time ago, Apple has signed a two-year contract with the United States to make their latest mobile phone using the Liquidmetal material. But according to Dr. Atakan Peker, one of the inventors of the alloy, Apple had to do research for several years with funding reaching 300-500 million dollars (U.S. $ 2.94 to 4.9 billion) in order to allow Liquidmetal casing as their iPhone.
