Samsung Ready to Develop ARM Processor Architectural own self

Samsung Electronics reportedly will implement its own platform architecture for the next generation of Exynos processor. This is the first time that Samsung's Exynos in developing their own design using ARM architecture. Later research and development process user application processor (AP) will be conducted at Samsung Austin R & D (SARC), Austin, Texas. The new AP-making process will be completed early next year so that it can be used on Samsung's latest flagship smartphone.

As you know, in this industry there are only a handful of companies that build its own platform. Some of them are Apple and Qualcomm ARM architecture redesign after the agreement was signed. Samsung developed architectural platform will be focused to maximize the performance of the bus between the CPU and memory - DRAM and NAND flash. Is expected to increase the ability of the data-handling capacity and better power efficiency than current ARM core. The architecture is likely to be a model of Octa Core Exynos 5 generations.

In terms of the development of the AP, Samsung has signed an ARM architecture license for two to three years. Not only for 32-bit ARMv7 based such as Cortex-A15 and-A19 Coretex alone, but also based ARMv8 64 bit. For ARMv8-based 64-bit, will most likely be developed for the CPU on the server.

Not known is Samsung will also be implemented in technologies such big.LITTLE Exynos in the Galaxy S4 or not. Big.LITTLE technology is a new technology that combines the Cortex-A7 Cortex-A15. Cortex-A7 core function for low performance requirements such as calling or texting, while the Cortex-A15 is intended for high performance needs such as watching videos, playing games, and more.
