Mediatek Introduces The First True Octacore Chip in the World's

MediaTek reported earlier this month launched a roadmap to a number of new products that will be present. From all chip to come, it was revealed that the type of MediaTek MT6592 processor set with 8 core (octa-core). Today officially chip manufacturing from China's announced MT6592 chip octacore as the first in the world.

Samsung Galaxy S4 with 5 Exynos chip does have 8 core, but not eight core that run concurrently, but with big.LITTLE technology, where there is a pair of quad-core processors, and only a quadcore processor that works at a time, depending on the heavy or light duty performed. Meanwhile octacore Mediatek chip running concurrently in the same time. Mediatek claim 8 core can be used without being exposed to overheating.

Chip MT6592 is reported to have performance and power efficiency approaching 800 Qualcomm Snapdragon, AnTuTu benchmarking score results for MediaTek MT6592 is 29,600 points with 1.7 GHz clock. While the common snapdragon processor 800 records the range of 33,000 score. Reported that the MT6592 chip that will be sold will run up to 2GHz clock speed, not 1.7 GHz as at the time of testing. AnTuTu benchmark although not an absolute measure of performance of a device, but these results indicate that the ability MT6592 not vary much with Snapdragon 800.

MediaTek MT6592 chip is an 8 core processor with Cortex A7 is fabricated by using a 28nm process and quad-core Mali GPU. If compared with 4 big.LITTLE architecture Cortex A7 and Cortex A15 4, MediaTek MT6592 chip is said to be more efficient in terms of energy consumption. Currently several major vendors such as Sony, Lenovo, LG, and ZTE are getting octa-core processor prototype is. Mass production will be implemented starting in November.
